There are all different types of turning to make things easier the galleries are split into three sections bowls, spindles and segmented turnings. Bowls are turned on a faceplate or chuck whereas spindles are turned between two centres. Segmented turnings can be either although in the main they are bowls made up from several pieces of timber glued together and then turned this practice is more popular with American turners for some reason.
