Why we do this

What are the reasons seemingly perfectly sane people stick sharpened metal objects into a chunk of solid timber spinning at speeds up to 3000 revolutions per minute, are we all a little mad ?.
No! Wood-turning is a profession  that has been around for a long time hundreds of years in fact. It is not a trade everyone can pick up, although nowadays if you can afford to buy all the top equipment it is almost an exact science.
The reasons we do this vary greatly some are artistic some do it professionally some as a hobby, whatever the reasons are you will find that most turners are not only interested but are  passionate about it and you can see the passion expressed in each of the finished articles.

If you want to become a member of the group it is easy to do just ask for an invite and follow the instructions on the return E:mail. In the group you have the ability to chat on the set group chats or if there are a few on you can go into the chat room anyway, you can also hold private chats. There is a notice board as well as a discussion list and a gallery where you can gain inspiration or just look, there is a links page with many useful links and also file sharing.
The members are made up from all walks of life and all around the world they range from absolute beginner to full time professional, If you don't like it you can always cancel your membership it costs absolutely nothing.
